My personal experience with the corporate world was an important 7 years of growth in my professional life, but an unfulfilling journey. I woke up every morning dreading that rammed subway ride, 10+ hours of fluorescent lights and daily lunch at my desk. My ultimate goal had always been to be able to control my destiny, and to pursue my passion for entrepreneurship in the wellness space.
In 2012, I took that fearful leap and became a health coach & personal trainer, scheduling 7-10 clients a day. By early 2013, I was totally burned out and I found myself in the exact same position I was in one-year prior, waking up dreading the work I thought I so passionately loved. I was filled with exhaustion and angst and had no vision for my future. My business owned me and I knew something needed to change. I felt trapped on the hamster wheel and didn’t know how to get off.
And then everything changed when I was lucky enough to be introduced to Juice Plus during a networking group. The product made complete sense to me, but I was not so sure about the business opportunity. I wanted MY business to succeed and taking on something else that wasn’t my own was an uncomfortable thought. But I went into that initial meeting feeling brave and openhearted, and right then, I knew I was walking into something special. I saw the potential and had no idea what the opportunity would look like, but I took a chance. I focused on my future vision and the areas of my business that brought me the most joy, and three years later and I am a completely transformed entrepreneur.
Today I have a thriving Juice Plus team and a successful corporate wellness business, and most importantly, I’ve learned to work smarter not harder. I wake up rested (most mornings) and go to bed knowing that I have served others in an abundant way. I own my day. I get to cook from home and travel the world without worrying about where my next paycheck is coming from. I have been able to embrace the things that give me joy: my family, my community, and the fun, ambitious, like-minded people I get to work with.
The 3 most important lessons that I have learned in the last 4 years are:
